Your first visit
Your first video visit with a dietitian
A first visit is 60 minutes by video with the registered dietitian you choose, for $140. It is a chance to meet them and see how they work before committing to a month of the Personalized Care Plan; you can also start the plan directly if you prefer.
How do you book a first visit?
Booking takes five steps: choose a single visit, tell us the state you will be in, choose your dietitian, pick a 60-minute time, then sign in and pay. You see the full price before you pay.
Only dietitians who may see patients in your state are listed. Times are shown in your own time zone, and the earliest opening is picked out for you. Each dietitian sets their own weekly hours, so the times on offer differ from one to the next.
Before paying, you read and accept the cancellation and no-show policy. Your card details go into the payment form of our card processor and never reach our servers.
What do you need to do before the visit?
Sign four short agreements and add your date of birth and an emergency contact; your visit room opens once these are on file. Your health history is optional but helps your dietitian prepare.
Required before you join
These are kept in your account and only need to be done once.
- Notice of Privacy Practices
- Telehealth consent
- Consent to treatment
- Financial agreement
- Your date of birth and an emergency contact
Worth adding if you can
Your health history covers conditions that apply to you, what has been bothering you lately, allergies, and the medications and supplements you take, which your dietitian can read before you meet. You can also upload recent lab results or a medication list as a PDF or photo; a dietitian can see them only while you have a booking together.
Will you get a reminder?
Yes. A reminder arrives by email the day before your visit and again an hour before it.
If plans change, you can cancel or move a confirmed visit yourself up to 24 hours before it starts, and what you paid stays with you as a session credit.
How do you join the video visit?
Open the visit from your signed-in account on a phone or computer. Before you join, the room lets you check your camera and microphone.
The video room is part of CognitiveMind.ai itself, and only you and your dietitian can enter it. A quiet, private place and headphones make the hour easier; you will not need to install anything beyond a web browser.
What happens during a first visit?
A first visit is mostly about understanding you: your health history, how and when you eat now, your week, and what you want to change. You finish with first steps you agree on together.
A dietitian gives nutrition care, not a diagnosis, and does not change your medication. Questions about medicines, including GLP-1 medicines, stay with your doctor.
- Your goals, in your own words
- Health history, current medicines and any recent lab results
- A typical day of eating, including work, travel and family meals
- What you have tried before, and what got in the way
- Sleep, activity and the parts of your routine that shape your food
- One to three first steps to try before you next meet
What happens after the visit?
Your dietitian can send you a written visit summary, which appears on the visit’s page in your account. You can message them through secure messaging in your account if a question comes up.
Messages and attachments between you are encrypted when stored, and a conversation is open only to you and your dietitian.
What is the next step after a first visit?
If the fit is right, the usual next step is a month of the Personalized Care Plan: four 60-minute sessions with the same dietitian, a plan adjusted week by week, and chat and call support. The standard price is $600 a month.
Online enrollment opens dietitian by dietitian, and where a dietitian’s has not opened yet, booking says so plainly. You can also book follow-up visits one at a time, or prepay a package.
How should you prepare for a first dietitian visit?
Write down what you want from the work, gather your current medicines and any recent lab results, and note a few typical days of eating. A little preparation makes the hour more useful.
- Your goals and the one thing you most want help with
- A list of medicines and supplements you take, to go over with your dietitian
- Recent lab results, uploaded to your account beforehand
- Two or three typical days of eating, roughly noted
- Your weekly schedule: work hours, travel, training and meals out
- Questions you want answered before deciding on a month of the plan
Frequently asked questions
How long is a first visit with a dietitian?
60 minutes, by video. It costs $140, paid by card when you book.
Do I have to book a first visit before the monthly plan?
No. You can choose your dietitian and pay for a month of the Personalized Care Plan directly, where their online enrollment is open. A first visit is there if you would like to meet them first.
What should I bring to my first dietitian appointment?
Your goals, a list of the medicines and supplements you take to go over with your dietitian, any recent lab results, and a rough note of a few typical days of eating.
Do I need to download an app?
No. You join from a web browser on your phone or computer, after a quick check of your camera and microphone.
What do I need to complete before the visit?
Four agreements (Notice of Privacy Practices, telehealth consent, consent to treatment and the financial agreement), your date of birth and an emergency contact. Your visit room opens once these are on file.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes, up to 24 hours before the visit, from your account. What you paid stays with you as a session credit.
Will the dietitian change my medication?
No. A dietitian gives nutrition care and works alongside your doctor, who makes any decision about your medicines.
