Private, direct-pay dietitian care
Private dietitian care, paid directly
A private dietitian is a registered dietitian you choose and pay yourself, without an insurance plan in between. On CognitiveMind.ai the main way to work together is the Personalized Care Plan: a month of weekly one-to-one video sessions with the same dietitian, from $600 a month, with a $140 first visit if you would like to meet first.
What is a private dietitian?
A private dietitian is a registered dietitian you choose and pay directly rather than through an insurance plan. The credential and the standard of care are the same; what changes is how you reach them and how much time you get together.
People search for this in different words: private nutritionist, personal dietitian, concierge dietitian, executive nutrition. Underneath them is the same wish: one qualified person who learns your history, your schedule and your goals, and stays with you long enough to see what works.
Paying directly removes the steps an insurance plan adds. There is no plan to approve the visit, no limit on how many visits you may have, and no list deciding whom you may see. You pick the dietitian, you see the price before you pay, and you decide how long to continue.
Who is private dietitian care for?
It suits people who want steady, personal attention from one expert and would rather not arrange their care around an insurance plan. It is general nutrition care, not emergency or specialist eating-disorder treatment.
Often a good fit
- Executives, founders and senior professionals who need care that fits around a full calendar
- People taking a GLP-1 medicine who want help eating well alongside it, with medication questions kept with their doctor
- People investing in healthy aging and longevity
- Women working through perimenopause and menopause
- People with persistent gut symptoms such as bloating, IBS or reflux
- Athletes and active adults who want food matched to their training
Not the right place for
- A medical emergency: call 911
- An eating disorder, which needs a specialist team alongside a dietitian
- A prescription or a diagnosis, which come from your doctor
What do you get with a private dietitian on CognitiveMind.ai?
The main offer is the Personalized Care Plan: a month of one-to-one care with four 60-minute video sessions, a personal plan adjusted week by week, and chat and call support between sessions. The standard price is $600 a month.
A month is 30 days from the day you pay, and each month is its own payment. Nothing renews or is charged on its own: to continue, you buy the next month during the last seven days of the current one.
Jacob Dowling, RD, CDCES, offers his own version of the plan, centred on sports and performance nutrition, injury recovery and diabetes, at $750 a month. That price is his alone; the standard plan is $600.
- A 60-minute video session every week
- A personal nutrition plan, adjusted week by week
- Chat support between sessions
- Call support when you need to talk it through
Can you meet a dietitian before committing to a month?
Yes. You can book one 60-minute first visit for $140 to meet a dietitian and see how they work, then decide about a month of the plan.
You can also start with the plan straight away: choose your dietitian and pay for the month online. Online enrollment opens dietitian by dietitian, and where a dietitian’s has not opened yet, booking says so plainly.
If you would rather prepay visits without the weekly structure, packages are there too: 3 visits for $399 ($133 a visit), 8 visits for $1,024 ($128 a visit) and 20 visits for $2,400 ($120 a visit). Package sessions never expire.
How do you choose your dietitian?
You choose from the dietitians who may see patients in the state where you will be during your visits. Each profile lists the areas they focus on.
Focus areas listed by dietitians on the platform include GLP-1 and weight management, diabetes, gut health and IBS, heart health, women’s health, thyroid health, healthy aging and sports nutrition.
Dietitians on CognitiveMind.ai may see patients in 33 states. Where nobody can yet, that state’s page offers a waitlist instead of a booking. The dietitian you choose is the one you book again for each session, so you are not starting over with someone new.
When can you have your sessions?
Each dietitian sets their own weekly hours, and booking shows only the times they have opened, in your own time zone. The hours differ from one dietitian to the next, so it is worth comparing a few.
You can cancel or move a confirmed visit yourself up to 24 hours before it starts, and a paid visit you cancel in time stays with you as a session credit. Reminders arrive by email the day before and again an hour before each visit.
How private is it?
Visits take place in a video room on CognitiveMind.ai itself, which only you and your dietitian can enter from your signed-in accounts. Messages and attachments between you are encrypted when stored.
A conversation is open only to its two participants. Health documents you upload to your account, such as lab results or a medication list, can be seen by a dietitian only while you have a booking together.
Why pay a dietitian directly instead of through insurance?
Paying directly means booking without a plan’s approval or visit limits, and choosing your dietitian rather than taking whoever is in network. Today every visit on CognitiveMind.ai is self-pay by card.
Booking does not ask for a referral. One state rule to know: in California, medical nutrition therapy from a registered dietitian is provided on a referral from your physician.
The Personalized Care Plan works out at $150 a session at the standard price, with the support between sessions included. The cost guide sets out every price side by side.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a private dietitian and a private nutritionist?
A registered dietitian (RD or RDN) holds a national credential with set education, supervised practice and an exam. Who may call themselves a nutritionist depends on the state, and in some states anyone may. Every dietitian listed on our state pages holds the RD or RDN credential.
How much does a private dietitian cost on CognitiveMind.ai?
The Personalized Care Plan is $600 a month at the standard price, for four 60-minute sessions plus chat and call support. A single first visit is $140. You see the full price before you pay.
Do I need insurance or a referral?
No insurance is needed: visits are self-pay by card. Booking does not ask for a referral, though in California medical nutrition therapy from a registered dietitian is provided on a referral from your physician.
Does the monthly plan renew automatically?
No. Each month is its own payment and nothing is charged without you. To continue, you buy the next month during the last seven days of the current one.
Will I see the same dietitian every time?
Yes. You choose your dietitian, and each session in your plan is booked with them.
Can I contact my dietitian between sessions?
Yes. You can message your dietitian through secure messaging in your account, and the monthly plan includes chat support and call support between sessions.
Are evening or weekend sessions available?
It depends on the dietitian. Each one sets their own weekly hours, and booking shows the times they have opened in your own time zone.
Does a private dietitian replace my doctor?
No. A registered dietitian gives nutrition care alongside your doctor. If you take a GLP-1 or any other medicine, questions about it stay with your doctor.
